The Sandy Creek History Center and this community has lost another friend, volunteer and great guy Jack Killam. Jack was a life resident of Sandy Creek and shared many interesting stories from his youth. He served in World War II and was assigned to the Manhattan Engineer District, the secret organization that produced the atomic bomb.

Jack loved his community and served his church, with brother Stratt, making necessary repairs to the building, he worked the Oswego County Fair for many years with his small engine display, loved to come to the History Center on Fridays for coffee to answer our history questions.

When I became historian, he came in often to look at and discuss old maps. Photo: Jack Killam with daughter Rae Allen at Oswego County Fair.
