Ever heard of the Village Players? This group was organized in September 1965 with 20 members and was the result of a wave of enthusiasm after the group staged a production the previous spring for a Service Club project. The first plays were performed at the school auditorium, but after the Players had use of the BPE Recreation Hall (today the Sandy Creek Town Hall).

Finding a place to perform, rehearse and store equipment was one of the major problems for amateur theatrical groups. They made sets, had a production stage to use when needed, acquired items for a wardrobe and invested in lighting equipment. Meetings were held monthly with one major production every year and there had been four summer plays with emphasis on teenage participation.
